![]() “You can just hang outside in the sun all day tossing around a ball, or you could sit at your computers and do something that matters…”īut by the time of the battle they have become this… The boys form a plan to play almost all day every day, but stay in the forest killing boars to slowly level up enough so they can kill the griefer. Again, this gives the impression that stereotypical gamers speak three languages – the second being Klingon. Meanwhile, Stan’s father Randy has become alienated from his son, with Stan using gaming jargon – such as “MMORPG”, “XP”, Team Speak” and “R-Tard”. This again fits into the stereotypes of gamers as nerds with nerdy t-shirts that are inside jokes within the community. One of the members even has a t-shirt which reads “Dwarf Needs Food” – a quote from the game. “Gentleman, we’re dealing with someone here who… has absolutely no life.” “How do you kill that which has no life?” It is noteworthy that none of the board members are women. The Blizzard board members hold a meeting to address this. So while the boys may respect him to a certain degree as a gamer, as a social human – they would not. Clearly the player has managed to manipulate the rules, most likely Cracking or Hacking. Again another stereotype for MMORPG players, but not as note-worthy as this one. Just earlier, Cartman makes a point that he bets half the players are Koreans. Perhaps this portrays them him in a negative light, but then again – he is being “a goddamn butthole!”. Pretty much one of the more known stereotypes of a gamer. Look, it’s a single (presumably), white, overweight, male. Stan replies with “I dunno, but whoever he is – he’s one tough badass…”Ĭut to: a close up of the “tough badass”. Cartman even asks “Don’t you have better things to do than go online killing people?” Immediately, Kenny’s character is killed. ![]() “It’s alright, he can’t kill us unless we agree to duel” says Kyle. “He’s a way higher level than us – it isn’t fair” says Stan. They come across a griefer who has frequently killed them. The episode starts with the boys playing World of Warcraft. Kyle portrays a female, while the other three portray males. The episode uses Machinima to capture in game footage of the four characters playing as their characters. It is consistently voted as one of the best episodes of the Series, and I would recommend watching it – if only for research purposes… It touches on many aspects of the gaming world such as race, gender – as well as stereotypes of gamers. This is the first ever weekly show to get a TV-MA rating. The 2006 South Park episode ‘ Make Love, Not Warcraft’ takes a look at gamers and gaming – specifically World of Warcraft.
